Joe Wootten is a longtime high-school basketball coach, educator, and leader in grassroots basketball<\/strong>, best known for his connection to Bishop O\u2019Connell High School<\/strong>, the Wootten basketball coaching legacy, and the development of elite high-school players.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who is Joe Wootten?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Joe Wootten is the head boys basketball coach at Bishop O\u2019Connell High School in Arlington, Virginia<\/strong>. He comes from one of the most recognized coaching families in the Washington, D.C., basketball community. He is the son of legendary high-school coach Morgan Wootten<\/strong>, who built DeMatha Catholic into a national basketball powerhouse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joe followed his father’s coaching path and has spent decades involved in high-school basketball, player development, camps, and national basketball evaluation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coaching at Bishop O\u2019Connell<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Joe has been a prominent figure in the Bishop O\u2019Connell basketball program, where he has coached and developed high-level players. His coaching philosophy emphasizes fundamentals, basketball IQ, player development, discipline, and preparation<\/strong>, reflecting many of the principles associated with the Wootten coaching tradition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joe is also one of the principal figures behind the Wootten 150<\/strong>, an elite basketball evaluation and showcase event that brings together some of the country\u2019s top high-school players.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Working alongside Terri Lynn Wootten and the broader Wootten basketball organization, Joe has helped organize the event and provide a platform where players can be evaluated by coaches, scouts, and other basketball decision-makers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
