An Honor

I received your Camper of the Year award in the 5th week of overnight camp. I apologize for contacting you so long after camp, but I wanted to thank you for the tremendous honor of receiving the award, and what you have given me, both this year and past years, as my time as a camper has most likely come to a close. In my career as a basketball player, I have had many coaches and guides to help me learn the game, but I can say with absolute confidence that there is no coach that has taught me the lessons that come with the game with more significance than you. The keys of a first impression, the value of a firm handshake and a look in the eye when you meet someone, the appreciation of hard work, and the value of teamwork and sportsmanship have all been imbedded and imprinted in me through my four total years of camp, and these lessons have helped make me into the young man I am today. I tried to tell this all to you before the closing ceremonies during the 5th week, but I got a little emotional and had to cut the thanks short. I can never thank you enough for the values you have given me throughout my life, both on and off the court, and I have never received a higher honor than when you handed me the Jack Bruen Award at the end of the closing ceremonies. I wish you the best of luck in your coaching career, both at O’Connell and wherever else your career might take you, and I hope I can see you again.

Highest Regards,

Aiden
